Holi (Hindu Festival of Colors) • Ramadan continues

The Table That Costs Something

Story: Raj, 33, Mumbai

Raj's family celebrated Holi every year. The colors. The sweets. The cousins pouring water on each other from the rooftop.

But this year, Raj was in a fight with his brother. Three months of silence over a business deal gone wrong. Their mother had stopped asking them to reconcile. She just looked tired.

Holi morning, Raj stood on the terrace alone. His brother was downstairs. Between them, three floors and three months of pride.

Raj picked up a handful of color. Walked down the stairs. Stood in front of his brother. And threw it.

Not a word. Just color. Just presence. Just showing up.

His brother stared. Then laughed. Then threw color back.

Today, Hindus celebrate Holi — the festival of colors, marking the triumph of good over evil, the arrival of spring, the forgiveness of debts. It's a day when social barriers dissolve.

Jesus told a parable about a banquet. The host invites everyone — the poor, the blind, the lame. But the table costs something: you have to show up. You have to sit next to people you wouldn't choose. You have to let the feast change you.

Scripture: Luke 14:21-23

The Demand

Identify one relationship that needs repair. Not full reconciliation — just presence. Just showing up. Send a message. Make a call. Throw the first color.

What Happens When You Do This

You discover that reconciliation doesn't require resolution. Sometimes it just requires presence. The willingness to be in the same room. The rest can follow.

Community Prompt

Who do you need to "throw color" at? Who have you been avoiding because repair feels too big? Start small. Start today.

Prayer for the Day

God of reconciliation — give me the courage to throw the first handful. Not to fix everything, but to show up. To be present. To let repair begin. Amen.
